Since many years environmental protection and the reduction of the footprint of industrial activities have always been at the centre of the Group’s policy, starting from the production of energy with renewable sources, to the systematic reduction of waste through the recycling of every material used in its own factories.
In 2007 SBE-VARVIT started a long-term plan to reduce its CO2 emissions and installed in its production units an increasing amount of photovoltaic panels, reaching a capacity of 4MW in 2015: 2.5MW in Monfalcone, 500kW in Reggio Emilia, 300kW in Turin, 300kW in Milan, 300kW in Tolmezzo.
Thanks to these photovoltaic systems, SBE-VARVIT produces over 20% of its electricity requirements through renewable sources.
The factories in Monfalcone and Milan are also equipped with natural gas cogeneration systems, which allow further savings in terms of emissions, due to heat recovery and a consequent increase in overall energy efficiency.
From 2007 to the present, thanks to these investments, Vescovini Group has been able to reduce the CO2 / ton of product ratio by over 50%.
To further reduce the environmental impact of industrial activities, in 2010 the Group started a waste reduction plan, through a series of important investments that allowed after 7 years to reduce the amount of waste disposal by over 70%, despite the size of the plant has doubled in the same period of time. In this way SBE-VARVIT has achieved not only an important environmental objective, but at the same time has significantly increased its efficiency and competitiveness.
From our point of view respect for the environment and economic efficiency have never been in contrast, but absolutely complementary.
SBE-VARVIT aims to a continuous improvement of its own performances and also in the field of health and safety at work a constantly evolving process has been established which leads to focus the maximum attention on the subject, making everyone aware of the importance of their role.
The commitment of SBE-VARVIT in the field of the environment and health and safety at work is witnessed by the maintenance of UNI EN ISO 14001 and UNI ISO 45001 certifications, by the adoption of a Organizational model, Management and Control Model pursuant to corporate Legislative Decree n. 231/ 01 and the appointment of a Supervisory Board
